    Nature Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

I think that Berry's assertion is spot on. He talks about enjoying nature and what is has to offer. He sees sun rises and sunsets as a celebration. Time on Earth is a gift and I think that's what Berry wants us to recognize. He wants us to have a personal relationship with the earth and what it has to offer because we are all connected as people and nature:)

How do you think climate change will affect your region’s water supply? Think about the effects of weather, storms, salinity, and sea level rise, among other changes. How can you find out more about climate change’s impact to your region's water?

I think that climate change would deplete my regions water supplies. To find out climate change's impacts you could definitely go online and search your region and go to the DNR website.

Water Say No to Plastic Straws
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

Plastic bags is probably the biggest one for me. I like to go shopping a lot. I could definitely carry a reusable bag around instead when I go shopping. Coffee cups is another big one for me too. It's hard to ask the baristas to use personal cups because of the COVID, so I mean, once it clears up I could start bringing in my own cup. I use plastic straws too, but I carry around a metal straw so I don't have to use a plastic ones very often, if at all.

How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

Creativity is a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity because being creative is original. You are taking your own original idea and shaping it into something totally amazing but just so simple. Our brains are so complex and it's just so beautiful to me that we can think on our own and create something new and original. It's the simplest thing you can do to just be yourself and be creative and free flowing.

How might spending more time outdoors enhance your brainpower?

I think that spending time outside can help enhance brainpower because you get a chance to be away from technology and all the noise around us. Taking a break and going outside to read a book or something like that helps the brain to relax and focus rather than constantly being distracted by a snapchat:) We are then able to just breathe and get away from everything. Focusing in a quiet place filled with fresh air is probably the best way to learn and enhance brainpower.

    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

I have been going to sleep at midnight like everyday or even past that and I have class at 9 am. I find that not going on electronics closer to bedtime has been helping me immensely and not eating snacks close to bed or getting into conversations with people. I would like to at least sleep 8 hours a night. So settling down around 8pm and going to bed at around 10pm will probably help with that.

    Food Zero-Waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?

My roommate and I were planning on making beef broccoli lo mein tonight. Sometimes it isn't the most pleasant thing to eat the whole thick stalk. To use the whole vegetable we will cut the stalk into chunks and cook it in with the rest of the meal.
