    LLLast Day!! How'd we do?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Work from Home
It takes the average worker in the United States 26 minutes to travel to work. One way to fix long commutes would be to make cities more affordable. An even simpler option: promote the use of telework. How have you used technology to replace in-person meetings or work this year?

    Zoom meetings all the way
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

    Hillary Fujimoto's avatar
    Hillary Fujimoto 2/15/2021 5:28 PM
Trying not to buy new things or even second-hand things. Reusing things until they break. Sewing clothes. Using old clothes as rags. Not using tissue paper and using handkerchiefs (and cleaning it regularly to avoid the plague).
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

I carry things or if it's too much to carry, -> cart. If not a cart situation, bag:(
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?

    Hillary Fujimoto's avatar
    Hillary Fujimoto 2/15/2021 5:23 PM
Toilet paper, coffee cups, and trash bags; a bidet, reusable coffee cup, and dumping my trash directly in the dumpster.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

    Hillary Fujimoto's avatar
    Hillary Fujimoto 2/15/2021 5:21 PM
Surprise, surprised. I'd rather use this money for textbooks.

Let's go, team! Go bananas! Answer: to be competitive and know how ecoeco I'm being on average.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

For now, it's because of the pandemic. In general, what usually stops me is if I forget, or didn't have plans to go to a cafe, ect. I should just carry a reusable cup with me all the time so it's one less decision. Knowing the difference that makes makes me feel sexy.
