Food
Meet My Local Farmers
I will visit my nearest farm to find out who produces my food, and will learn about the quality of life of those around the world who produce my food in order to make better choices when I shop.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 10 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 6 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Transportation
Current Action, for Bright Future
My goal is to achieve the desired level of carbon emission in order to reduce global warming as well as to sustain the earth ecosystem for the coming generations.
Transportation
Advocate for Greener Vehicles
I will spend at least 130 minutes assessing the vehicles used by my company or college and advocate for a purchasing policy focused on fuel-efficient vehicles.
Transportation
Conduct Virtual Meetings
I will not travel for meetings and will instead conduct them virtually.
Transportation
Car Share
I will sign up for a car-sharing service or organize car sharing with my neighbors or classmates to cut down on the number of vehicles on the road.
Transportation
Go by Bike
I will commute by bike 5 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Transportation
Improve a Bus Stop
I will improve a bus stop in my neighborhood by posting the stop schedule, adding seating or shelter, adding art or flowers, picking up litter, or some other small improvement.
Transportation
Support Public Transportation
Access to public transportation enables more opportunity and a better quality of life. I will make 20 phone call(s) and/or send 40 emails per day to public officials to advocate for a more comprehensive public transportation system in my region.
Transportation
Stay on the Ground
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Improve a Bus StopIn what ways can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?
Michael Gebreteusae 7/24/2022 8:56 AMI will make sure that folks who are in my network to utilize public transportation instead of their cars whenever possible or at least 1 or 2 days in a week. Thus, I believe this will make difference especially if all people start practicing that. I also try to remove derty things or trash when I see them at any Bus stop. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Support Public TransportationHow can/do residents get involved in community decision making in your area? What stakeholders are involved in the economic aspect of planning decisions in your community?
Michael Gebreteusae 7/18/2022 6:41 PMI believe that inviting citizens to a community meeting and educating them would be a great way to have every member participating in decision making. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go by BikeHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking, or driving?
Michael Gebreteusae 7/18/2022 6:26 PMIt will absolutely make differences over time. Although driving is very helpful to get quickly wherever you want to go, there are so many times we can still take public transportation or just riding a bike can still be ok. thus, I love to ride and walk every time. I make sure to leave my house ahead of time, so I can arrive at my dastnation without being late. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Conduct Virtual MeetingsHow can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?
Michael Gebreteusae 7/18/2022 6:14 PMThis will value my effort of avoiding using a transportation to go from meeting to meeting.
