Action Track: Building Resilience
Help Others
I will offer to help 1 person(s) who are in need each day.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper per day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided when I have to print documents.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 10 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Nature
Tend a Garden
I will tend to a garden, or prepare for one, each day using sustainable gardening practices.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Water
Fix Leaky Faucets
I will fix faucets or report leaky faucets to facilities that have been wasting up to 9 gallons (34 L) of water a day or 270 (1,020 L) gallons of water a month per faucet.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Simplicity
Go For A Daily Walk Outside
I will take a walk outside for 20 minutes each day.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Ricardo Gomez 11/27/2021 4:22 PMI got up early this morning to make some menudo. Most folks pull out the chiles, onions and garlic after its cook, but I learned from a YouTube video that instead blend them and put it into the pot when plenty of the water has been boiled off. This give great flavor to the stock and these vegetables are not thrown out, reducing the amount of waste and wasted food. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Ricardo Gomez 10/28/2021 7:02 AMThe cost of food has significantly gone up, especial thanks to the Biden/Harris team. Next to my mortgage payment, cost of food is my second biggest expense. -
