COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Waste

Go Paperless

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Waste

Reduce Single-Use Disposables

Cheap, single-use items and disposable packaging end up blowing around as litter more often in poor and POC-majority neighborhoods. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.

COMPLETED 4
DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Skip the Straw

Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

COMPLETED 4

I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper per day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided when I have to print documents.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Compost Food Waste

My regular trash has only been filling up 1/3 of the way from the prior 2/3. My recycle bin is now filled up 4/3. This is due to cleaning all of my single use plastics and putting them in the recycle.

Doing really good on this challenge. I haven't used a straw in over two months. I also make sure to put the straw back when I am given one so that don't just assume I used the straw and put it in the trash
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

Something I can really do is talk to the businesses that I work with and try to educate them on my learning and show them the savings I have achieved with going to two sided printing. I can do this in in our general business passings

I think when we take the time to analyze and monitor our own heath it helps u understand how our environment has a play on that. I think when we begin to take an interest in ourselves, we take an interest in that around us.
