  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Advocate for More Food Options
What changes would help food insecure regions have access to local, seasonal foods? How can your choices contribute to these changes?

    Ibiyinka Ibitoye's avatar
    Ibiyinka Ibitoye 7/17/2021 9:47 AM
The objectives of this study are to evaluate the seasonality and prevalence of food insecurity among low income families with young children in rural southern Colorado, and to evaluate the relationship between food security status and child diet and growth.

      Hello Ibiyinka,
Yes, we need to evaluate food security. I didn't know the importance of food serenity management until this unit. If it was taken seriously maybe one day we can end world hunger.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?

    Ibiyinka Ibitoye's avatar
    Ibiyinka Ibitoye 7/17/2021 9:46 AM
Food sovereignty is a food system in which the people who produce, distribute, and consume food also control the mechanisms and policies of food production and distribution.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Organize a Course
What would you like to discuss about nature, the environment, or sustainability with your classmates, friends, family, or co-workers?

    Ibiyinka Ibitoye's avatar
    Ibiyinka Ibitoye 7/17/2021 9:40 AM
Sustainability is being in harmony with the system you are a part of and doing what is beneficial for the whole system as well as each individual part of that system. It is about taking a holistic approach rather than an individualistic approach.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Insulate Water Pipes and Water Heater
How do you think climate change will affect your region’s water supply? Think about the effects of weather, storms, salinity, and sea level rise, among other changes. How can you find out more about climate change’s impact to your region's water?

    Ibiyinka Ibitoye's avatar
    Ibiyinka Ibitoye 7/14/2021 5:50 PM
Climate change is already affecting water access for people around the world, causing more severe droughts and floods. Increasing global temperatures are one of the main contributors to this problem.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

    Ibiyinka Ibitoye's avatar
    Ibiyinka Ibitoye 7/14/2021 5:50 PM
    • Have a long storage life
    • Require little or no cooking, water, or refrigeration, in case utilities are disrupted
    • Meet the needs of babies or other family members who are on special diets
    • Meet pets’ needs
    • Are not very salty or spicy, as these foods increase the need for drinking water, which may be in short supply

      Hi Ibiyanka,

I'm glad you have a nice food storage system. I have one as well, and when covid hit I stocked up even more. That itself taught me to be prepared for the unexpected at all times. For water we have a energy saving system that monitors how much water we use during shower, and a energy saving toilet.
