Esra Kadioglu 4/25/2021 9:42 AMI have been trying to live with a smaller eco footprint. I joined the challenge to see what I can do more, and also give myself a boost to continue. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Esra Kadioglu 4/25/2021 9:20 AMIf I am to buy it from a coffee shop, I believe they don't let you use your own mug/thermos. So, I make my coffee at home and use my thermos. Meeting friends at a coffee shop makes it difficult to use my own mug. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go For A Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Esra Kadioglu 4/20/2021 5:51 PMIt helps me refresh my thoughts and also keeps me away from screens. My eyes hurt from spending too much time in front of the computer so I rest my eyes by looking far ahead. Also, I encourage the rest of my family to come outside with me. My kids play at the park while I walk around it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Esra Kadioglu 4/20/2021 5:45 PMOn very hot days, or if I am outside for a long time, I end up finishing water in my reusable bottle and need to use bottled water. On campus, I can always refill my bottle. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Esra Kadioglu 4/19/2021 3:50 PMDuring my daily walk, I can see that people are getting ready to work on their gardens. Some flowers were already planted and bloomed. Garden tools were scattered outside... -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Enjoy the Sunrise/SunsetFather Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?
Esra Kadioglu 4/19/2021 3:48 PMIt's the month of Ramadan, the month of fasting for Muslims. Fasting begins at dawn and ends at sunset. So I am particularly observant during sunset, reflect on my day of fasting while I am waiting to take my first sip of water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
Esra Kadioglu 4/12/2021 10:21 AMI almost never throw away food. What goes to compost are fruit/veggie peelings, coffee grounds from the coffee machine, tea bags (or loose tea), etc. I collect it in a small box in my balcony. I rented a community garden plot for summer, it'll go there.
