Now that we are coming to an end with the campus eco challenge, i do feel like i have learned a lot through it. Not to mention, majority of my habits now have been changed for me to live a more sustainable day to day life.

Seeing how invested my school is in regards to overall sustainability encourages me to learn more about it and to live a sustainable lifestyle as well. Not only is my school invested in this but also, communities all over the island as well. Adding that on, it brings me to the realization of giving more back to the island since we constantly take from it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smart Seafood Choices
Many states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?

I do belive that my diet choices fall within these guidelines. I will however change a couple things for me to fully fall within the given guidelines.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

With doing this challenge, I have noticed that I am not attached to my phone now compared to before. It is refreshing being off of my phone for long periods of time throughout the day. It was not that hard to choose other activities over my screen time actually. I decided to spend my time either going for a walk, cleaning more around the house/organizing spaces throughout my house as well.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Disconnect from Email
Notice how much time you were spending checking email away from work and make note of that. Now that you have stepped away from it and have not been checking, what changes are you noticing in your thoughts, use of time, stress and energy levels?

I have noticed that I am less stressed out than I usally am, especially when it comes to school. Since school has started up again and we’re coming to an end, emails about blackboard, projects, homework, etc, has taken a toll on me. Taking a break out of my day from my emails has helped me a lot with my stress.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

    jeady lopez 4/20/2022 1:58 PM
I feel a lot more relaxed and not so eager to have to go through my social media. I also noticed that I am on it so much to the point that opinions from other people on social media mattered to me when it shouldnt. Now that I have taken the time to distance myself from it, it is not a worry for me anymore. Let alone it being a part of my “ daily routine “ as well.

I’ve being doing great with my daily check-ins and haven’t broke my streak just yet. It feels good to know that I am making a difference, even if it is a small one.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    jeady lopez's avatar
    jeady lopez 4/19/2022 6:54 PM
I pay more attention to the sceneries and the beauty of my neighborhood when walking, rather than driving. Not to mention, I can venture out more when walking because of the freedom of not having to find parking or parking my car in general.

Today was an off day for me emotionally and mentally so I decided to go for a walk. Instead of just 30 minutes, I lost track of time and was walking for 60 minutes instead. After my walk, I felt more refreshed and in a better mood thankfully.

I have noticed that the category ‘simplicity’ is the main category to have an impact on me. From eating mindfully, keeping myself accountable to daily walks and to be outdoors more often, I’ve come to find myself more calming and energetic.
