    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

So far I've loved cutting my social media down. On my iPhone it calculates a weekly chart of how much screentime you had that week. It notifies you on the average if your screentime went up or down and personally I love that. After doing this challenge my daily average has been down by 2 hours each day meaning in one week I've eliminated 14 hours of screentime. The majority of my screentime is on social media and I do love seeing everyone's post but I noticed I tend to do that when I'm bored. So instead ive read more, studied or have found another thing to occupy my time with, because usually I only have a short window anyways.

How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

It is important to have creative practices because it gives an opportunity to enjoy more of what you're doing. It can also give you different perspectives to look at things and allows you to adapt better. We can deliver our solutions more simplistic rather than complex, that can maybe work better in the end. If we have a good way at approaching problems finding a creative way to go about it , can not create a less stressful environment but can also get you or your group motivated to get the work done without it feeling complex or a drag.

This week has been crazy! Already the exams are rolling in. So far I've had 2 exams out of 4 for this week. I am continuing to try and take that extra 30 min to be distraction free and so far it has helped me breathe! and take a step back for a minute.

One more thing, as we were at the beach we noticed trash laying around and It wasn't much but we all pitched in to pick up as much trash that we could fit into a trader joes brown paper bag. We did that as we walked to the spot we were going to be for the day and as we walked back to the curb. We all felt like even though it wasn't a full beach clean up, we all did our parts to ensure that the trash we picked up didn't end up in the ocean that was right in front of us.

Feeling really excited to start this month right! Over the weekend I was able to enjoy the beautiful weather we had by going to the beach and soaking in the sun! Instead of driving to the beach I rode my bike with a few friends. Feeling the cool breeze and smelling the ocean breeze which is one of my favorites scents of all time! These are the weekends that I live for. I don't get them often so when I do get a weekend to enjoy myself I take in every minute!

So far I've loved my daily challenges. Especially when I log into here and see just my contribution alone, what difference that is making.

    Simplicity Eat Mindfully
Mindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?

When I was able to put my phone down and be present in the moment I felt so at peace. I was able to have a moment of serenity and really enjoy my time. Having the beautiful ocean view and being able to hear the sound it felt like a time of meditation. I felt very relaxed, like all my worries and stresses had gone away for that moment. In comparison to when I usually use my phone simultaneously, I feel like my time flies and not in the best way. It feels at times like I wasted my time on my phone rather than eating. I definitely enjoyed being off my phone and taking in that moment. This is something I am going to try do daily.

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

Filet Mignon for example is a pretty expensive meat to buy or order at a restaurant. So there for is someone orders a filet mignon steak they must have some extra money to spend. Aside from the fancier meats, the US is looked upon to the largest country that consumes meat. We do it because of the convenience factor. It is right there at the store and if one is buying the conventional meat the price will be cheaper.
The more meat we eat the more contribution we give to greenhouse gases, water and crops use. If we buy locally we can have a positive contribution to those businesses and hopefully they can outrun and outshine the competitors.

    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

I bought my own set of reusable straws and I love them. It even came with a brush cleaner. I love smoothies and iced coffees, so to drink them on the go I have to use a straw. The amount of plastic straws that I was using monthly was ridiculous. I even thought you know how grocery stores charge 10 cents per bag imagine if straws were also being charged, which led me the wastefulness of the plastic straws and I bought reusable ones.
I reuse all my bags. I bought a bunch of reusable bags from trader joes so every time I go grocery shopping I don't have to buy plastic or paper bags.
