Sierra's actions
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 15 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
Racial inequity is both a sustainability and justice problem. I will support businesses owned by people of color in my community whenever I shop.
Transportation
Drive Less
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips.
Nature
Practice Gratitude for Earth
I will spend 20 minute(s) per day outside, practicing gratitude (prayer, meditation, journaling, etc.) for Earth and my natural surroundings.
Community
Talk To My Friends and Classmates
I will decide which social or environmental issue in my community is most important to me and tell 2 friends and/or classmates each day about the issue.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 45 minute(s) each day.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Sierra MacDonald 10/05/2021 10:50 AMToday I met an older gentleman at a Coffee shop and he and I talked all about Solar and Renewable Energy. He shared with me his opinion in regards to Waste Plants and the increase in need for Solar Power and I shared with him our lecture that we had on Monday. It was awesome to hear his perspective and opinions in regards to waste in California and all over the world! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Sierra MacDonald 9/13/2021 6:55 PMI use a lot of single use coffee cups and want to try and bring my own into places that are allowing reusable cups!
