REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Turn it offHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Frank Marshall 5/09/2021 6:04 PMSDGE provides electricity to homes in San Diego using wind, solar, and conventional gas turbines. Birds have been killed on the solar panels that are in the desert. Overall electricity aids humans to do their job, cool the buildings, and provide necessary lighting. When lights are not in use, crime rises. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Watch a Documentary about Food SovereigntyHow does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?
Frank Marshall 4/09/2021 3:56 PMI believe the issues are resources. In Haiti, the transition is from survival to stability. Haiti is such a poor country that the people need much training to understand the benefits of farming and growing ones own food. Modern global food systems are large companies with resources to produce and over produce on the land. Scale is important for a global food system. In Haiti, there is a growing need to farm the land to thrive but not in a U.S. mentality of thriving. But to be able to feed the family without wondering where the next meal will come. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Frank Marshall 4/07/2021 8:46 AMI believe it is a resource issue. Specifically money. Developed nations have more money to purchase meats products. Also, developed countries have a specific way they cook. My parents grew up during a recession and used mostly potatoes. After the recession they used more meat. The advertising in developed countries also aids in meat purchases. Developed countries also enjoy fast food which is primarily meat-
Professor Morrell 4/09/2021 11:22 PMWe are seeing land and resource use exploding to feed animals as countries like China that used to only eat meat 1-2x a week are now eating it with every meal like westerners. This is greatly straining our planet's resources. -
