I was volunteering making food boxes for people to drive up and collect at the Shalom center, and this activity builds community in order to combat social inequality.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Help OthersIn your opinion, how do social inequalities diminish a strong sense of community?
Cal McCormick 3/17/2021 8:45 AMI disagree with the premise of the question. A bigger and more important question is how do these inequalities call a community to action vs if the social inequalities have a detrimental effect. Every society on Earth has social inequality, and this is unlikely and questionable if it even is desirable to change.
I was volunteering making food boxes for people to drive up and collect at the Shalom center, and this activity builds community in order to combat social inequality. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Watch a Documentary about Food SovereigntyHow does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?
Cal McCormick 3/17/2021 8:30 AMThe documentary I watched was Food Inc.
The concept of food sovereignty doesn't really address the complex transition, rather than attempt to offer a solution to bring the balance back to the side of more localized food system. While understanding that the modern global food systems have issues, it is under addressed how a reversion via food sovereignty would impact both supply and quantity. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Adjust the ThermostatYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Cal McCormick 3/15/2021 10:42 AMYou can unplug electronics not in use, so they don't drain "phantom energy" from being plugged in, but not used -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Learn About Renewable EnergyWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
Cal McCormick 3/15/2021 10:40 AMWhat inspires me is the hope of providing energy security to future generations while protecting the Earth we currently have.
