Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.
Waste

If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 5 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Cheap, single-use items and disposable packaging end up blowing around as litter more often in poor and POC-majority neighborhoods. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Heat and Cool NaturallyWhat are other ways you could use the power of the sun to reduce your own environmental footprint?
Yamile Mojardin 4/30/2022 10:04 PMA personal way that I quite enjoy using the sun as is just for lighting. Nothing feels better than just using the light from the sun to light up the room instead of having to rely on lights to do something. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Yamile Mojardin 4/28/2022 11:42 PMDepending on the amount of things that I have with me, I will opt to just carry the items. In the case that they are far too many and I have a car available, I will not ask for plastic bags. This may not always be the case, there are times in which I will end up having to use a plastic bag but I know that due to my limited options I had to get the bag. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Yamile Mojardin 4/28/2022 11:39 PMPersonally, this is not a problem because I don't drink coffee. Regardless of whatever beverage that I am consuming, I lean towards using a reusable cup instead of single use ones. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce refined sugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Yamile Mojardin 4/27/2022 9:51 PMI was definitely addicted to sugar, in fact I think I still am. I definitely feel that I have made my body become more dependent on refined sugar for energy instead of just natural sugar that is already found in food. I do still feel like I have to try harder to lower my dependency on it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Joyful MovementWhat's your favorite activity(ies) in which you experience joy while being active and moving?
Yamile Mojardin 4/27/2022 9:49 PMBeing limited to the movements that I can already do, one of my favourite activities is just to stretch at the same time that my animal crossing character is stretching. It allows that movement of which I can handle and is quite refreshing to do so.
