  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

Barriers:  Many people do not understand the effects of their actions, including the use of single-use plastics like water bottles.  Also, many would opt to use-and-trash rather than use-and-clean.

Success:  Show people images of what happens when the world uses single-use plastics to combat the "out of site, out of mind" mentality.  Incentives help too!

Day #1 (for me) - it is going well.  I have spent more time thinking through my actions today.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

Absolutely!!!!  Spending time inside disconnects you from your natural environment and steers you towards finding enjoyment in activities and items that undoubtedly require energy to produce and use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

No, that number does not surprise me.  I would rather use the extra money to better insulate my home.
