REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Support Pollution ReductionWhat environmental factors affect human health in your region, and how do they affect it?
Sophie Mullen 3/27/2020 10:58 AM"Exposure to hazardous substances in the air, water, soil, and food. Natural and technological disasters." In Delaware big manufacturing companies like DuPont water contaminated the water which is detrimental to overall health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Sophie Mullen 3/27/2020 10:56 AMFruit and veggies help people on a health level because they contain vitamins and other nutrients that junk food doesn't offer. those things can help with overall health, skin, mood and so much more. When people feel better they are probably more motivated to spread kindness. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Sophie Mullen 3/27/2020 10:54 AMSometimes it can be hard to remember to be grateful and to live in the moment. But sometimes a heartfelt thank you note or something like that can really make someone's day. And I know I always feel better when I help people so acknowledging people doing the same is kind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Learn About & Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Sophie Mullen 3/27/2020 10:52 AMYou can always redesign your old clothing. If you already have shirts and sweaters that you don't really like anymore you can tie-dye them or crop them. The possibilities are endless. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Sophie Mullen 3/27/2020 10:49 AMI noticed that having a routine before bed helps to get my body used to sleep at one time. At first, I used melatonin to use to get used to going to sleep earlier but now I am pretty much used to it. I used to get 5-6 hours of sleep a night and now I am getting 7-8 hours and I am aiming for 8-9. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Sophie Mullen 3/27/2020 10:47 AMI always keep a few bags in my car in case that happens, but it is not the end of the day to use a disposable one as long as you use it more than once. maybe use it as a trash bag or doggy bags if you have pets. you can always put it back in the cart and wheel it to your car. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Sophie Mullen 3/27/2020 10:46 AMI think because we are home in quarantine now, it would be really easy to use what's already in the house instead of going out and buying more plastic. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Sophie Mullen 3/27/2020 10:43 AMI didn't really struggle with making the switch because before I was only thinking about my own convenience, but now thinking big picture and wanting to improve the environment it was a mind over matter thing. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Sophie Mullen 3/27/2020 10:42 AMIn the long term using a reusable water bottle and tap water is cheaper. This is clear because you can use a ten-dollar bottle and tap water vs a case of waters which is about $20 and lasts only about a month. Simply crunching numbers add appeal to the cause.
