I rode in a Tesla with one of my friends for the first time and it was so cool because if you think about it, you aren't using gas and you are car sharing at the same time.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?

    Kaitlyn Nuesca 4/16/2022 11:06 PM
After completing this action for a few days, I noticed that most of my work and responsibilities are completed, with that I get to relax and catch up on time to sleep instead of sleeping late at night.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

When I find myself stuck in a situation with no bags such as in a grocery store, I would end up putting my purchased items in a cart and bring them to the car.

Sometimes, the best way to save gas and reduce gas emissions is to ride with a family member or tell a family member to take you to places such as work.

A work-life balance is important because it helps reduce stress and helps prevent burnout in the workplace.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Go Paperless
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

    Kaitlyn Nuesca's avatar
    Kaitlyn Nuesca 4/15/2022 6:11 PM
It makes me feel that I am not wasting resources and that I am doing my part to help the environment by not writing on paper. The next step to reduce my waste is to buy gallons of water in those reusable big gallon jugs to reduce plastic water bottles.

It is important to take control because when we focus on sustainability, the entire world benefits and gets to live in clean, more healthy living conditions.

Car-sharing reduces the number of car emissions by approximately 4-5%.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water Conserve Toilet Water
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

Reducing water use through waterless toilets, water-efficient appliances, and water quantity monitoring, is an important part of sustainability for domestic water supply. Efficient piping systems that are leak-free and well-insulated provide a network that is reliable and help to limit water waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

    Kaitlyn Nuesca's avatar
    Kaitlyn Nuesca 4/15/2022 6:02 PM
No, I am not surprised that that much food is wasted per year because not everyone that I know finishes their food. I would use this money to give it to non-profit organizations to better their mission or goal.
