Today is the last day! Lets answer some reflection questions!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Katrina Prillwitz's avatar
    Katrina Prillwitz 11/25/2018 1:31 PM
When walking instead of driving you notice more small details that you would otherwise miss. I have noticed from walking around my neighborhood I have noticed the abundance of lizards that are everywhere. I have also noticed many different plants and trees that my neighbors have that bring a lot of beauty to the neighborhood.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Katrina Prillwitz 11/25/2018 11:53 AM
North America is all about convenience. We mass produce everything, including meat. We really don't value our health (I need to work on this myself) and we don't consume enough variety in our diet. Convenience is getting fast food (with meat as the main course) over making a nutritious meal at home.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

    Katrina Prillwitz 11/25/2018 11:48 AM
I average about 6-7 hours of sleep a night, I feel my best when I get 8 hours. I need to go to bed earlier on days when I have to wake up earlier. Some days the best way for me to get an extra hour of sleep is to take a nap during the day and when I wake up I feel recharged and more ready to complete whatever tasks I still have for the day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Less Screen Time
What did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?

    Katrina Prillwitz's avatar
    Katrina Prillwitz 11/25/2018 11:44 AM
Less screen time is a difficult habit to try and break. I would try to spend my time cleaning, exercising, or getting some reading in. I definitely feel better when I accomplish other tasks rather than being in front of a screen. I am going to try and limit my screen time every day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

    Katrina Prillwitz's avatar
    Katrina Prillwitz 11/24/2018 6:17 PM
I can incorporate spending time with family or friends into my exercise routine by asking them to exercise with me. By planning an outing (like a hike) with friends or family, we are getting the exercise we want in addition to spending time together.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Buy From a Farmers Market
What is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?

    Katrina Prillwitz's avatar
    Katrina Prillwitz 11/24/2018 5:57 PM
Eating vegan or vegetarian would do more good and less harm for me by being a healthier choice and for the environment because I would not be contributing to the meat industry which causes a lot of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    Katrina Prillwitz's avatar
    Katrina Prillwitz 11/20/2018 10:02 AM
The barriers are simply the convenience of plastic water bottles, they are sold everywhere, if you forget to bring a re-usable water bottle you are more likely to just buy a plastic one. In my attempt to make this change permanent, I fill up and bring my re-useable water bottle before I leave the house, even if I think I might not use it. I no longer buy bulk plastic water bottles.
