REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Conserve Toilet WaterWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Casey Rajala 3/17/2021 11:21 AMIn the future, sustainable water sources looks like not having a worry in the world about using too much of it! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Use Public TransitThe US spends roughly 20% of its federal budget on defense. In contrast, 2% goes to education, 20% goes to social security and just 3% goes to transportation infrastructure. Do these numbers surprise you at all? Why or why not? How would you adjust them if you could?
Casey Rajala 3/17/2021 11:20 AMThese are shocking because I never realized so little percentage went into education and transportation, when that seems just as important to me as defense does. If I could adjust them I would make every category close to equal. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Casey Rajala 3/17/2021 11:19 AMIt is important not to be on your phone or watching a show when eating because that decreases mindfulness within your consumption, and if you dedicate yourself and focus on your food you will find you are fuller and happier. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Less Screen TimeWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Casey Rajala 3/17/2021 11:18 AMIt was different and difficult for me to try to be on my phone less, but once I got in the habit it I easily realized there is no going back! I instead walked a lot, read, took bike rides, spent more time with my family. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Mindfulness PracticeWhat best helped you with your Mindfulness Practice? How does Mindfulness keep you grounded and sustain your work with compassion?
Casey Rajala 3/17/2021 11:17 AMBeing mindful and doing things with intent and purpose has helped me realized what is truly important what is not. It is important to stay grounded and compassionate within your work and life in order to live it fully. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Work-Life BalanceHow might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Casey Rajala 3/17/2021 11:15 AMBy getting a more wholesome balance of activities in your life it can increase happiness and time for exploration of other things that could potentially make you happy as well. If everyone worked constantly and that was what life was based around the world would be a depressed place. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Organize a CourseHow can you use Ecochallenge.org programs to help mobilize your community to take action toward a sustainable future?
Casey Rajala 3/17/2021 11:12 AMThe programs within this website are extremely helpful as they have inspired me to want to make the world a better place, and be more mindful and conserving of our energy and resources because it is truly valuable and scarce. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater 5-Minute ShowersName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Casey Rajala 3/17/2021 11:11 AMI love my shower time, and it is something I value and appreciate. Although, I do recognize it is important to converse this time because it is can be an enormous waste of the energy and the source by letting it go for too long. This not only impacts me, but the entire world as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Collect Rain WaterTrace the water that flows down the drain from your house to the largest body of water nearby. What is the route it takes?
Casey Rajala 3/17/2021 11:10 AMI live in New Berlin, Wisconsin and as I have tracked my rain water/overall water-flow, it typically ends up in the Great Lake Michican which is 20 minutes from my home.
