REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Breckin Sargeant 4/13/2020 12:25 PMYes, I agree with Rachel. Every time I go outside there is something new to explore and if I can't find anything I'm not looking hard enough. Nature can connect to every part of us (emotional, spiritual, physical, etc) we just have to spend more time in it to see the benefits. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow might spending more time outdoors enhance your brainpower?
Breckin Sargeant 4/13/2020 12:22 PMIt is refreshing to get outside and can help you be maybe getting a new perspective or just have a change of pace. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Breckin Sargeant 4/13/2020 12:21 PMI have been going on "social distance" walks with a friend where we walk together over facetime. We take our dogs on walks and call each other so we can talk while getting exercise. It gets me motivated to actually go on a walk/ run because someone holds me accountable.-
Emily Ustianowski 4/13/2020 6:27 PMThis is so great! I love this idea! Having someone to hold you accountable for exercise helps. Also great job adapting with the virus and all.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Breckin Sargeant 4/13/2020 12:19 PMI see more people and get to see the "ins and outs" of the city that I often rush past. I see some street art and stuff like that too.-
Emily Ustianowski 4/13/2020 6:32 PMI agree Breckin! I tend to notice more of peoples daily lives when I walk directly past their house. I see people out and about and get to look inside of businesses rather than just zooming by.

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Tend a GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Breckin Sargeant 4/13/2020 12:18 PMI once went on a hike along a mountain in Colorado and saw an interaction between a snake and a rabbit (obviously it didn't end well). That was just something I hadn't really seen before, and it changed my perspective of nature. I realized it is a brutal and difficult environment and not always a beautiful, calm, and gentle place. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Support Pollution ReductionWhat environmental factors affect human health in your region, and how do they affect it?
Breckin Sargeant 4/13/2020 12:15 PMIn my area things like pollution, litter, and flooding affect human health the most. Pollution causes health hazards, litter affects the quality of our water sources and the overall health of the environment. Flooding is a big problem because it affects houses and buildings in my area.
