Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go For A Daily Walk OutsideFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Alanna Sullivan 3/17/2021 8:03 PMEven though it was cold out, it was nice to feel the change of the seasons from winter to spring today. My recognizing change in your surroundings, you may also see the changes in yourself or your work. The improvements over time can be more appreciated when it is accompanied by warmer weather and sunnier skies. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My Home or Dorm RoomHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?
Alanna Sullivan 3/17/2021 8:01 PMI could use the "need versus want" mindset and see how necessary certain items are and why they should be kept. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Work-Life BalanceHow might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Alanna Sullivan 3/17/2021 8:00 PMIt may lead to more sustainable life for myself because I become more grateful for more surroundings since I balance the time I dedicate to work and the time I spend enjoying the outdoors or having me time. This time for self-reflect can help me realize poor habits that lead to unsustainability. If people did not have to work so much, or take breaks when they can they may realize the same things as well and as a culture we may transition to a more sustainable lifestyle. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Alanna Sullivan 3/17/2021 7:58 PMThe process of restructuring my trip was easy as I prefer road trips anyways. I can avoid air travel by taking trains from city to city, and drive coast to coast. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Brush My Teeth Without Running WaterWhat is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?
Alanna Sullivan 3/17/2021 7:41 PMThe main water source in my region is Lake Michigan, which I live right by! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Use Reusable BottlesWhat are some of the needs that water meets or benefits that water provides for you?
