  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Adjust the Thermostat
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

    Chloe Taylor 11/15/2021 2:41 PM
My energy usage is average, if not a bit lower compared to others in my zip code. This is because I am away from school and my mom works all day, so neither of us are home to be constantly using lights, TV, etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Power Down the Computer
What are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?

Other things I could do to save energy and reduce my environmental footprint is to turn off 'vampire lights' such as Xbox console lights, TV lights that are always off, try to not use nightlights, and unplug things from outlets when not in use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Turn it off
How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

Most electrical energy is generated through natural gas and coal, (fossil fuels). It impacts the environment, animals, and humans in different ways, but nonetheless all are affected. The environment is negatively affected through being suffocated with GHG emissions, animals are affected by having their habitats destroyed to make room for power plants. Humans are affected similarly to the environment, in that our air quality and environmental quality is diminishing as we continue emitting more GHG's.

I've had all of my roommates be much more aware of their energy usage this past week. By ensuring that they turn off all of their lights when leaving the room/apartment.
