Try a New Way to Prep

Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
I will spend 10 minutes researching environmental justice and environmental racism concerns in my region, who is affected by them, and local initiatives to address these concerns.
Waste
Carry my Trash
I will carry all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash with me to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Personal Waste Audit
I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.

I will decide which social or environmental issue in my community is most important to me and tell 1 friends and/or classmates each day about the issue.
Water

I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 3 meatless meal(s) and/or 3 vegan meal(s) each day this week.

Morgan Taylor 4/03/2021 9:51 AMI think things are going well for the eco-challenge but I personally keep forgetting to update my feed!!!! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Morgan Taylor 4/03/2021 9:50 AMThe biggest single-use item I have been using during the pandemic has been takeout boxes. Some of them can be re-used but a lot of them need to be thrown away. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Morgan Taylor 4/03/2021 9:49 AMI have no barrier to using reusable water bottles. My water bottle is emotional support for me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Morgan Taylor 4/03/2021 9:48 AMI know that eating meat affects our planet because of the amount of land, water, and resources that are needed to cultivate meat products. I think people in richer countries see eating meat as a status symbol but it is really just depleting resources. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Use Reusable BottlesWhat are some of the needs that water meets or benefits that water provides for you?
