  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?

    Malia Torres's avatar
    Malia Torres 10/28/2019 11:26 PM
I can prevent myself from accumulating things by only buying things that I need and donating my old items to goodwill
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Choose LED Bulbs
Switching out your lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

Nutritious food for a community implies that the community is not a food desert and there is access to fresh fruit, vegetables, or other whole healthful foods through a grocery store or farmers market.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Online Energy Audit
What most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint? What changes did you make or will you make?

    Malia Torres's avatar
    Malia Torres 10/28/2019 2:03 AM
I was most surprised about how much electricity our AC units use. They use a significant amount of power just to cool a small space.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Turn it off
How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

    Malia Torres's avatar
    Malia Torres 10/28/2019 2:02 AM
Electricity on Oahu is mostly generated from petroleum-fired power plants, producing greenhouse gases. This is bad for the environment and us. Renewable energy sources are on the rise but there are some protests stopping the production of wind turbines. There is a need for renewable energy but at what cost?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

    Malia Torres's avatar
    Malia Torres 10/28/2019 1:50 AM
I'm finding that if I go to bed earlier and start my day earlier I feel more energized throughout the day and less tired.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    Malia Torres's avatar
    Malia Torres 10/22/2019 1:41 PM
We need to ensure that we conserve our water since it all comes from an aquifer to make sure that we don't drain the aquifer.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
What is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?

    Malia Torres's avatar
    Malia Torres 10/22/2019 1:39 PM
The main source of water on Oahu is from an aquifer.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Malia Torres's avatar
    Malia Torres 10/15/2019 2:07 PM
In Hawaii, those that live on the coast or those who rely on agriculture or fishing are most affected by environmental degradation or irresponsibility. Families with homes on the water are and will continue to be affected by rising sea levels or natural disasters.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
