Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?

    Jillian Tourville 4/25/2021 4:40 PM
I used to use plastic straws all of the time but now I use reuseable straws instead.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

If I find myself without a disposable bag, I carry the items out or push the cart out to my car.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

    Jillian Tourville 4/25/2021 4:35 PM
I will definitely encourage others to do the same.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Choose Organic Ingredients
Many people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” How would you respond to that statement?

    Jillian Tourville's avatar
    Jillian Tourville 4/25/2021 4:33 PM
I think everyone has the right to make those decisions and hopefully, they make responsible choices.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Online Energy Audit
What most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint? What changes did you make or will you make?

    Jillian Tourville's avatar
    Jillian Tourville 4/25/2021 4:32 PM
I didn't realize the amount of disposable materials I was using.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Choose LED Bulbs
Switching out your lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

    Jillian Tourville's avatar
    Jillian Tourville 4/25/2021 4:32 PM
I can do many things. One thing I can do is continue using energy efficient lightbulbs.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Switch to Cold Water
What do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?

    Jillian Tourville's avatar

I plan to use the money I save in many ways. One way is by making a garden in my yard.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Host A Watch Party
What did you learn about in the documentary you watched? How did it make you feel?

    Jillian Tourville's avatar
    Jillian Tourville 4/25/2021 4:28 PM
I learned more about carbon emissions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

    Jillian Tourville 4/25/2021 4:27 PM
Sometimes, it seems easier to buy a bottled beverage but carrying around my own container is cheaper and helps the environment.
