Hanna's actions
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 3 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Simplicity
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
Water
Use Reusable Bottles
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Community
Express My Support
I will find out who in my state makes decisions that impact the environment and express my support for more environmental actions.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Cheap, single-use items and disposable packaging end up blowing around as litter more often in poor and POC-majority neighborhoods. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Food
Smart Seafood Choices
I will visit seafoodwatch.org or download the app and commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity MeditateWhat would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?
Hanna Walker 11/21/2019 7:36 PMI was fortunate enough today to spend time doing art. I love drawing and painting but with school I barely have time. It was lovely to spend time today away from my phone and focusing on myself and my thoughts. It’s not finished yet, but here’s what I have so far.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Use Reusable BottlesWhat are some of the needs that water meets or benefits that water provides for you?
Hanna Walker 11/19/2019 3:18 PMDrinking water makes me feel healthier and more energized. Any time I drink coffee or juice, I don’t feel too well after. I make sure to carry my reusable water bottle with me everywhere. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Reduce Single-Use DisposablesWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?
Hanna Walker 11/12/2019 6:11 AMInstead of using tinfoil or plastic bags to hold my sandwich that I bring to school, I have been using a reusable container! I also have been bringing my own reusable bags while shopping, and even not taking a bag at all. I even work at a shoe store, and I always ask the people I ring up If they would like a bag, Instead of automatically giving them one. -
Hanna Walker 11/12/2019 6:07 AMOn Saturday I participated In a community event, which entailed completing crafts with kids who have cancer. Not only did this event make the children happy, but my craft allowed for them to experience nature In a fun way. We made hedgehogs that had leaves glued to them, and the leaves looked like their quills. This taught the children that nature Is art. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Hanna Walker 9/20/2019 7:05 PMBeing mindful of things that I am thankful for keeps me hopeful and motivated for a better future
