REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Angela Yokley 3/01/2021 9:14 AMThere are so many small things you come to love about your place when you walk around with it instead of driving past it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Conduct Virtual MeetingsHow can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?
Angela Yokley 3/01/2021 9:13 AMBy communicating with your virtual meeting attendees, you can ensure that everyone's values are included. And virtual meetings are kind of the thing that people do right now, so this should be so easy! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Brush My Teeth Without Running WaterWhat is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
Angela Yokley 3/01/2021 9:11 AMI would absolutely agree! Appreciating the Earth can lead people to change the way they treat it, and just by learning of simple solutions through this EcoChallenge, cultivating that sense of gratitude is easier than we think. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Power Down the ComputerWhat are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?
Angela Yokley 3/01/2021 9:09 AMTurning off lights in common spaces, such as rooms shared by suitemates, the laundry/trash room, and even the kitchen can reduce the environmental footprints of everyone who shares these spaces! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Switch to Cold WaterWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
Angela Yokley 3/01/2021 9:08 AMCold water washing is so easy! WashU makes it the same price as washing in warm water, so the price difference is for naught! But the energy impacts are very different, so why not wash in cold when you can? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Eliminate Toxic PlasticsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Angela Yokley 3/01/2021 9:02 AMI made a New-Year Resolution to eliminate single-use plastics from my daily routine! A simple switch to reusable utensils has made my waste go down quite a bit! Using Eco2Go Containers has also really helped! Use Eco2Go when you can on GrubHub!!! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Angela Yokley 3/01/2021 9:00 AMI usually only get 6-7 hours of sleep, so getting 8-9 is a real treat haha! I always feel much more prepared to start my day and work harder, which at a school like WashU is a true blessing. By keeping my phone away from my bed, I find I get more restful, longer sleep! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Angela Yokley 3/01/2021 8:59 AMI always write a journal at the end of my day, and it isn't always positive. But writing out your feelings and thoughts can help relieve stress and improve your overall mood. Taking time to appreciate your own thoughts is important! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Angela Yokley 3/01/2021 8:58 AMBecause people in richer countries have more money to spend on greater quantities and qualities of meat, they feel less inclined to reduce their consumption. This is bad, because it creates an unsustainable habit of cattle production (which is also methane production!).
