Energy
Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 133 lbs of CO2 a month and 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Energy
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.

Alysse Young 4/25/2021 9:55 AM2 actions I chose were to use a reusable water bottle and also to skip the straw. I think that it is so important to reduce our use of plastic and a great and easy way to do this is to just use a reusable water bottle. Such a simple task can make such a great impact. I also think a simple but great way to reduce waste is to skip the straw when ordering drinks out. Starbucks just started incorporating lids that don't require straws which is a great way to reduce plastic consumption. Whenever I go to Starbucks, I make sure to ask for no straw.
