David's actions
Transportation
Go by Bike
I will commute by bike 22 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Simplicity
Limit Social Media
I will limit my social media use to once each day reducing my daily use by 20 minute(s)
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables

Food
Reduce Animal Products

Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.

David Gladson 10/08/2018 9:42 AMWas so dissapointed to see that Bobby B's switched from paper bags to giant plastic containers when you buy a muffin. I definitely think I annoyed the person working when I took my muffin out of the plastic box and handed it back to her. This feels so opposite of their encouraging folks to use a reusable coffee mug...-

David Gladson 9/30/2018 6:32 AMMissed all three of my daily challenges yesterday. Was working on house projects and didn't have the time to make food for myself like I normally would. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
David Gladson 9/15/2018 10:18 PMToday was moving day, and the rush to complete all of our projects got in the way of completing the challenge today. I ended up opting for non-vegan convenience foods for dinner in order to keep the move on schedule. Back on the wagon tomorrow. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicitySocial media can keep us connected with loved ones, make us laugh, and help us to learn new things. It can also create echo chambers and take more time than we realize or intend to give. After completing this action for a few days, how do you feel? What do you notice?
David Gladson 9/10/2018 8:04 AMI had to clear out the tabs/bookmarks on my browser today, as I found myself clicking over to check the news when I was trying to work. The convenience of having those links super accessible was becoming a barrier to the challenge. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?
David Gladson 9/07/2018 12:41 PMI didn't have time to pack a lunch this morning, and I forgot my reusable bottle at my desk when I headed out for meetings. So I opted not have a drink with lunch in order to stick with the challenge.
