Charles's actions
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper per day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided when I have to print documents.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Charles Hanna 2/25/2019 8:17 PMThe next step would be to reduce the amount of water used when washing the dishes. I feel that water can easily be misused and wasted during this process, especially in households that place a high emphasis on cleanliness. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteChoosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?
Charles Hanna 2/25/2019 8:16 PMI feel that encouraging a company to make this shift would be relatively easy. From a pure economics standpoint, if all reports were double-sided, it would cut down on the office supply costs for the company, thus widening their margins. On a personal level, I would think that no one would mind conforming to the shift as well (especially given the "one-click" ease of selecting this option when printing). -
Charles Hanna 1/15/2019 3:06 PMPer the gratefulness challenge, I am grateful for:
1. Living in a very wealthy country filled with opportunity.
2. The parents I had who raised me.
3. The family that supports me in what I want to do with my life.
