  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health More Fruits and Veggies
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

I think eating more fruits and vegetables makes your body feel a little more healthy each and every day. Fruits are naturally sweet and appealing to me and there are so many ways to cook vegetables that can make them taste good. It can positively affect our environment by not mass producing livestock and can help me to feel better "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" apparently.

Hi Hannah, I agree that mass production of livestock has been really bad as it has been changing our climate for over a decade. These mass production livestock have massively contributed to land and water degradation as well as the mass emission of greenhouse gases. It is always better option to "go green" and save the Earth, one person at a time.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Hannah OBrien 7/17/2021 3:59 PM
I think people in richer countries eat more meat because to raise livestock is more expensive and time consuming than growing crops so meat ultimately cost more than crops and richer countries eat a lot of more expensive foods. Eating more meat affects our planet by creating a lot of waste and controversy from overly raising livestock for the sole purpose to be eaten. It is hard to know that all of this is happening and not be able to limit it or slow the production of animals for food sources.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Engage In Active Listening
What was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?

Listening to people can be fun sometimes when it is an enjoyable conversation but other times it can be frustrating when the other person makes it all about themselves. I think listening is really important for you to benefit by understanding people better and for them to benefit by feeling heard and understood more.

Hi Hannah! I like how you pointed out the fact that sometimes a conversation can be frustrating. I, myself, don't really like talking to people so when it comes to them just talking about themselves the whole time, I get frustrated and end the conversation. However, I am trying to be a better listener by not getting irritated or zoning off.

What do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?

Luckily as a college student I am not the one paying the bills so the savings aren't going to my pocket, however I do hope it helps reduce the cost of the household and the savings can maybe go towards the home needs?

I also don't pay bills in my house. My parents pay for everything. I save the money and use it for useful things

    Energy Choose LED Bulbs
Switching out your lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

Light bulb efficiency is important to help reduce the amount of electricity used. Other ways we can reduce carbon emissions is just to simply keep the lights off when you are not in the particular room.
