Waste
RESEARCH LOCAL WASTE SITES
I will spend 20 minutes finding out where landfills and/or toxic waste sites are situated in my region and which communities are most impacted by these sites.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
Waste
Find Local Recycling Depots
I will find out where to recycle the recyclable items that I can't put in recycling dumpsters or my curbside bin.
Community
Host A Watch Party
I will host a watch party to screen a documentary about an issue that matters to me.

Marisol Teodoro 11/03/2020 2:22 AMThis challenge was harder than I thought just because every time I looked up a recycling center near my house the recycling center had to webpage to refer to. However, I decided to look up Waste Management page and browsed through their site. I learned that recyclables should not be in plastic bags. So, when recycling anything do not bag it, just toss it in the recycle bin by itself.-
Ana Dutciuc 11/04/2020 11:31 PMAnything that could be thrown out in a way could be recycled or reused in any way. -
Neesha Kamble 11/04/2020 5:56 PMThat's very good to know, thank you for sharing! -
Luis Angel Valenzuela [email protected] 11/03/2020 3:52 PMThis is very informative Marisol and it has me thinking if we should even store our recyclables in a big plastic bag in the first place before we take it the the recycling center. I would now use a bin to store my family's plastics and canned waste etc, in an organized manner. That way no plastic bags are being used and causing a possible pollution in our landfills.
