Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

There can simply not be a future without pollinators!! The good news is, everyone can do something about it, and by doing it make their life more beautiful. Watch this Pollinator Pathway webinar on great and easy ways to modify our country and city landscapes to offer our pollinators rest and food!

Action Track: Building Resilience Join a Local CSA
Dependable fresh food, better prices (cutting out carbon-heavy supply chain and grocery stores), supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these benefits (or others not listed here) inspires you the most?

Food access is one of the most inspiring challenge because in my point off view, it is one that can be most easily achieved and yields the most benefits: restore the Earth's biodiversity, build community, bring joy of eating good food and enjoying good health, of sharing knowledge and food, among many other benefits! During this challenge I have: started seedlings of native plants and vegetables, registered to a CSA, walked with community members building a Food Coop, and watched my town's Transition group's webinar on a garden share project, and more. Vive food self-sufficiency!!

Food Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty

People will have control of where they get their food. They can get their food from local farms and not from places far far away.  It helps the environment because if you go to your local farms to get your food then the ships that ship food won't use gas and cause pollution. And shipping costs more money.

    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

You can use a cart or carry the items in your hands or you can ask for a paper bag. You can keep reusable bags by your door for when you go out shopping. Or you can use a shopping cart. Also, you can set an alarm for the time you're leaving to go shopping to remind yourself to bring a bag.

We are in the final few days of our school wide EcoChallenge! What an amazing impact we have all done together!
Remember to bring single use plastics in tomorrow (Friday 3/12) if it´s your last in person day for Schedule A.
Schedule B still has Monday as part of the EcoChallenge.
Moving forward we hope this will stay at the school as a resource for both the school and the school community to continue with sustainable recycling!

    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/11/2021 4:58 PM
As a subtstitute for plastic bags, we use reusable bags or ask a person that works at your store to use rubber or paper packaging. We also use alot of ziploc bags and instead we could use reusable containers.
