What do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?

Where I live, has a laundry facility that I go to, so I am not directly saving money on using cold water, but if I was, the money I was saving would probably go to bills or other utilities
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

Insead of using a purse, I have a small backpack that I keep my wallet, keys, etc. in, and if I need a bag, but cant use a reusable one, I will put the smaller things in my backpack, and then carry the larger things that do not fit or that I dont want to get smooshed. I use disposable bags as trash bags in my smaller trash cans, so If I do need to get a bag, I know that the disposable one will be put to good use also.

    Nature
Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

I agree with Kathleen Dean Moore. If we have gratitude for something, and we think about it often, then we think of the morals behind that thing. We can cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals by being selfless and thinking about others. As a society it is much harder to do.

What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?

I always use my own bag for groceries but now I have been using glass plates and cups instead of reusable ones.

The campus ecochallenge has been going well! It is a great way to ensure I get outside most days.

I did a old clothes swap with my housemates so we did not have to go shopping again for a little party. It was nice because we reused clothes and did not buy anything we would wear only once.

I donated some clothes that I do not wear anymore but are perfectly nice, it felt good to downsize and know someone else will want them.
