    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?

In my regular day-to-day life, I usually use a few single-use items such as plastic coffee cups and plastic water cups at work. I typically use plastic bags to put my things in when going to a grocery store or a mini-market. Since the beginning of this week, I have started using a multi-use mug for my coffee in the morning. I wash it and use it for water during the day at work for my two trips to the grocery store this week; I used a  reusable plastic bag that I started keeping in my car at all times. I see with this challenge, its not hard to make a change happen to help the environment

    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

I am aware that desires and needs are two distinct ideas with well-defined but easily interchangeable meanings — depending on my desires and intents. Deconstructing the relationship between these two terms is crucial to gaining a more thorough picture of myself. When I began arranging my Wants and Needs in a grid, my decision-making took on a new dimension — pun intended. I am capable of visualizing the interaction of desires and needs, comprehending their permutations, and adapting my thoughts accordingly.

      Hi Mohammad,
Your answer just brought me to ask myself what are my wants and needs, and making a grid is actually a great and creative idea because you'll not only analyze your thoughts but also visualize them and understand them better.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

Since last week, when I began taking a shorter shower time of 5 minutes or less, I've noticed how it had no effect on the quality of my shower, as I was still able to achieve the same result while using less water. I've also noticed how such a small thing as our daily actions can make a difference, as I was able to save on water without feeling as though I'm getting less of a result when taking my daily shower.

Hi Mohammad, that's really great you were able to preserve on your water bill and couldn't notice the difference of the quality of the shower. Things like taking a shower can kill so much of our well-needed time while also consuming water we continue to waste for no reason. I'm glad you recognize how it taking longer showers didn't make a difference to you.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Choose LED Bulbs
Switching out your lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

I was pleasantly surprised by how simple it is to make a difference by changing lightbulbs. I honestly did this about a month ago to all of my house lightbulbs and immediately saw a decrease in my big time bill and the fact that I am no longer disturbed by the light because the led lightbulbs are much better in the daytime and at night because I can adjust the brightness level.
