Stian's actions
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Cheap, single-use items and disposable packaging end up blowing around as litter more often in poor and POC-majority neighborhoods. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Water
Use Reusable Bottles
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 4 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Water
Conserve Toilet Water
I will save up to 12 gallons (45 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 60 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.
Nature
Do Nature Activities
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 30 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 20-minute walk outside each day.
Transportation
Drive Less
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips.
Transportation
Go by Bike
I will commute by bike 1 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go by BikeHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking, or driving?
Stian Kvaal 4/12/2021 10:31 PMWhen I bike or walk to school, I am connected to my community in ways that I would not experience in a car. I am able to smell, hear, and touch the beautiful planet we inhabit. I feel as if I am in touch with nature and truly making a difference when I actively choose to avoid driving. It is also nice to see and hear other communities members doing the same thing. Biking and walking allows me to slow life down and focus on the moment rather than living fast living in car in which I am just trying to get to my next destination.-
Nate Bennett 4/13/2021 11:57 AMI totally agree! Walking or biking to class is one of my favorite parts of the day. Love the fresh air.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Drive LessHow has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Stian Kvaal 4/12/2021 10:27 PMIt was only until recently that I really began to track the transportation I rely on. I have mainly relied on a car for much of my transportation. However, recently I have made drastic efforts to reduce my carbon footprint and how much I drive. This includes walking or biking to destinations when I am able and only driving when it is necessary. I have realized that there are many lifestyle changes that we can build on to mitigate carbon emissions.
