Christine's actions
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 4 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Food
Locally-Sourced Meals
I will source 1 meal(s) each day from local producers.
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 30 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 60 minute(s) each day.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Waste
Prevent Recycling Contamination
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 5 minutes researching which materials are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community and recycle only those items.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Christine May 8/13/2020 7:22 PMEnough
Broken bottles and rusted pieces of glass
Crumpled up newspaper lost in the grass
Flooding concrete plaguing our trees
Can this be the environment that goes on around me?
Toxins and insecticides splashed onto our food
oceans filling with black grim oil
Sea life headed doe fatal doom
This is what we are to consume?
Mills bleeding out iron casting out fumes
Airlines leaking destructive gases
Weapons of devastation tested at isolated sites
And this is the air that sustains life?
Is there something we can do
Maybe raise awareness to those closes to you -

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Christine May 7/15/2020 1:04 PMEating a more plant-based diet reduces the greenhouse gas emissions and water expenditure of industrialized agriculture. We can all benefit from eating more plants.
