  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Christian Perez's avatar
    Christian Perez 5/08/2022 12:55 PM
Human activities that are negatively impacting the water sources around the world is pollution. A lot of garbage is being leaked into our water sources such as plastic and this is due to not properly recycling or disposing of these items. To improve this i can make sure to dispose of garbage correctly and motivate my friends and family to do the same.

Hi Christian I think that's a great way to start, by showing that you care about how trash is being disposed shows other people around you how there contributing to hurting the ecosystem.

I think its cool that you garden. I've always wanted to try growing and harvesting my own food.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

What stands in the way of making this a habit for me is remembering to carry the reusable mug around with me when i go to work because i have avoided using single use coffee cups at work by bringing my own reusable mug from home but sometimes i forget to bring it with me. However knowing that when i do carry the mug with me to work and refuse to use a single use cup for my coffee i'm doing my part to help keep the environment clean and it makes me feel good.

      HI Christian,
A reusable mug in my opinion can be easily forgotten in the car or at home. It takes a while to get used to the idea of bringing your own around. Im glad you are doing your part to keep the enviroment clean!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

    Christian Perez's avatar
    Christian Perez 4/22/2022 6:55 PM
Creativity is a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity because in order to keep life easy going and simple you have to be creative with the methods you use to go about your day to day activities in a way that simplifies getting your daily activities finished in an effective manner. Being creative like creating a plan to finish all your homework on time is key to having a more simple easy going week which reduces the amount of stress like when you don't have a plan.

      Hello Christian!

Keeping things simple has a positive impact on your life, and that is true. However, I believe you may have missed the main point of this project, which is to better understand the difference between needs and wants. By putting your desires and needs into a grid, you give your decision-making a whole new dimension — pun intended. The interplay between wants and needs may be visualized, understood, and your thinking can be adapted as a result.
