Alyssa's actions
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 10-minute walk outside each day.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Nature
Do Nature Activities
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 15 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 5 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Alyssa Panduro 11/29/2020 10:12 PMToday I was in Fontana at the summit shopping center grocery shopping and Christmas shopping. First, I went grocery shopping at stater brothers and I parked right in front. I then went to dollar tree, ross, and target. Instead of moving my car and driving to those stores, I chose to walk. I added fewer emissions to the air because I did not start my car over and over in order to be closer to my car after every store. It also helped me save a little bit of gas and I appreciated the cold weather and trees swinging back and forth. Typically, I would move my car after every store just so I don't need to walk everywhere but today I chose not to be lazy and reduce the burning of fossil fuels. I feel like I got a better experience walking from store to store rather than driving which I greatly enjoyed!-

Alyssa Panduro 11/17/2020 11:14 PMToday I enjoyed what nature had to offer. I went to the park and ate a box of pizza at the picnic table. It was such a nice day outside. I feel like I take this nice sunny weather for granted and don't appreciate it enough. When it starts to rain every day I will definitely miss these picnics!-

Alyssa Panduro 11/10/2020 4:54 PMThe straws I bought are a good investment because I can carry them in my bad with me where ever I go since they're so portable and convenient. I haven't had to use not one plastic straw ever since I bought them.-

Alyssa Panduro 11/09/2020 12:37 AMEarlier today I went to the store Burlington and I saw these metal reusable straws. I thought about this class and I bought them because I love my straws and with this challenge, I need to refuse my straws and now I happily can since I have my reusable straws. I will upload a picture of my straws tomorrow!-

Alyssa Panduro 11/07/2020 12:35 AMI am actually enjoying this challenge. I always notice myself trying to keep the environment clean and try to refuse as much plastic as I can. I really want to help make a change because I realized how much I did not care and would take advantage of everything that was given to me such as bags and straws, but now that I know how bad these items are for the environment I try to avoid them. Now that we are all very informed I hope we are all doing the same! :) Good luck everyone!!-
Ana Dutciuc 11/08/2020 10:49 PMThank you for your support! Seems like you are achieving a lot. Way to go and good luck to you as well! :)

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhat is the main water source in your region? If you don't know, how could you find out?
Alyssa Panduro 11/05/2020 12:23 AMI have no idea what the main water source is in my region. When I looked it up on google, it explained that the water comes from lakes, rivers, and, streams. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Alyssa Panduro 11/05/2020 12:21 AMI would say I already have the "R"s incorporated in my lifestyle. I already try to reduce the amount of items I use. I always reuse things if I can't refuse it. Something I need to work on is repair. If something is broken I will just throw it away before putting in time thinking how to fix the item. I love repurposing items but sometimes it could lead me into saving a bunch of things I don't need.-
