  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

Some foods I want to preserve and enjoy is pickling vegetables like carrots and cucumber. I also want to try it with fruits, such as strawberries, grapes, and peaches. I am able to enjoy food and help our environment, so I plan to continue preserving food.

This past week, I went on a run in my neighborhood and it was very calming and peaceful. I enjoyed being surrounded by nature and I was active. Running outdoors was therapeutic for me.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

When I was walking, I was able to hear the song of nature. I heard birds chirping, I saw trees moving, I saw squirrels climbing trees, I heard dogs barking, and I was able to appreciate the sky. Unfortunately, when I am driving, I listen to music, and I am constantly surrounded by man-made things. I am not able to appreciate nature as much when I drive.

I think the way that you used descriptive words that are positive when talking about walking in your area, I can tell that you enjoy it. I feel the same about walking VS driving however the way life is now we have to travel for many things and that makes driving a necessary action so we miss out on a lot of natural things we could have experienced other wise.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Turn it off
How is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?

My family recently installed solar panels at our house, so we are suing solar energy now! I am super happy we made this change because we want to help out anyway we can. Solar energy impacts our environment because we do not have to use as much greenhouse gases and we are reducing CO2 emissions. Animals and humans are not directly affected by our solar panels at my house.

One thing I can do to help my community become more sustainable is to support our local vendors by eating at local places, instead of fast food locations.

This is not only a good way to help the community but also help your body by not ingesting the fast food quality processed foods.

    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

Sleep is very important for both our mental and physical well-being. I want to have a regulated sleeping schedule because my sleeping habits are chaotic. So, I have attempted to sleep more this past week. I tried to not use my phone when I'm going to bed and it has helped me sleep quicker.

Great job this week! I find it fascinating that light pollution comes from inside our homes, too, but it does make sense for it to throw us off balance for adequate sleep.
