  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns
Who is most affected by environmental degration and/or environmental irresponsiblity in your community? How are they affected?

    Kai Ingram's avatar
    Kai Ingram 7/25/2021 2:07 PM
The poor, mostly because they're interacting with the environment the most. If the environment somehow turned hostile, then the poor will die in droves upon droves.

Hey Kai, I agree which is so sad. The poor is definitely more affected in our world today

You are so right Kai, thank you for bringing up this to our classes attention! So much inequality in our world, and especially our immediate society. We are all human, and should have better equal standards for all. I understand some people cause their downfall, but that doesn't mean it's okay for those people to starve of hunger or dehydration.

Hi Kai, unfortunately, you're right. There is so much inequality between us humans even though we all need the same basic things to survive, like a glass of water or a meal.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Take Control
How do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?

    Kai Ingram's avatar
    Kai Ingram 7/25/2021 2:05 PM
If something like the river is infected with a plague. The plague is then transferred into our drinking water system and then everyone, including myself, is infected. This goes to show that if anything happens within an environment, us humans will be affected too.

Hi Kai, I really loved your connection of the environment and its health to our own well being. This reminded me about the relationships between things in a food web and how a disruption to on of the members of the web affects them all.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Happiness
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

    Kai Ingram's avatar
    Kai Ingram 7/25/2021 2:01 PM
It motivates people to act better and change for the better of themselves and the environment.

Hi Kai, I agree that having gratitude does make people realize there is more out there want to change for the better
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?

    Kai Ingram's avatar
    Kai Ingram 7/18/2021 1:08 PM
It addresses it by showing this huge web or trade, which explains how we get other foods from places like Japan.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Help Others
In your opinion, how do social inequalities diminish a strong sense of community?

    Kai Ingram's avatar
    Kai Ingram 7/18/2021 1:05 PM
It produces a barrier that prevents people from communicating and sharing.

    • rose guadian's avatar
      rose guadian 7/18/2021 1:40 PM
Kai, I agree that social inequalities create a divide between people and who they are. At the end of the day, we are all humans with stories and feelings to share, but somehow we let inequalities like education and income divide us.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Meet My Neighbors
In what ways can you create more real and meaningful interactions with friends — or strangers — each week?

    Kai Ingram's avatar
    Kai Ingram 7/18/2021 1:01 PM
By walking over and checking up on them. People love talking about their day, so lending an ear would make people happy.

Hi Kai, the challenge that you completed is one that I do not think I could do. I find that I enjoy my personal space and solitude greatly and may be uncomfortable interacting with my neighbors. However, I commend you for doing so, as I believe it truly does help foster a sense of community.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Carry my Trash
What one thing could you do right away to reduce your waste?

    Kai Ingram's avatar
    Kai Ingram 7/11/2021 8:17 AM
The dump is way too far for me to run over there. So, instead, I carry 5 trash bags on my back and run around the neighborhood to help boost awareness of how much said trash we sent to the dump.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

    Kai Ingram's avatar
    Kai Ingram 7/11/2021 8:14 AM
Before, I didn't know the double side printing was a thing. Now, not only I save ink, money, and paper, but now I can conveniently look behind the paper to know what's going on. And they say going green is hard work.

You´re doing great. It saves a lot of paper and money, especially if you have to print school work out. I´m surprised that you didn´t know about it before, but I´m glad that you found out. It´s really helpful and keep that mentality up!

It's going well, though I do admit it's pretty difficult.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

    Kai Ingram's avatar
    Kai Ingram 7/11/2021 8:03 AM
Bring more bags next time. If the item is a big box, have a sibling carry it and help me bring it back to the car.

Bring more bags with me and If I didn't go with my car I will probably get more bags
