I've found that meditating helps me a lot. After learning to use it as an outlet for stress and other emotions from my therapist, I've come to appreciate its pragmatic outcomes. It's a very useful tool to recall mindfulness into daily stressful and anxiety-arousing situations.

    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

If I forget to bring a bag, I am more likely to purchase a reusable bag if the store offers one. That way, I feel less guilty about purchasing a bag. If the store does not offer its own reusable bag, I'll force myself to carry the items out in my purse or in my hands. However, I do like to have a reusable bag in my car or in my purse for back-up on all occasions.

    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

I get approximately 9 hours of sleep every night. However, ever since the start of the Covid pandemic, I've been sleeping and waking up later. This is something I'd like to change since I've noticed that my body feels more sluggish recently. I'd like to revert back to my older sleeping patterns, in which I was able to operate daily on fewer hours of sleep.

Some natural gifts I am grateful for are the air we breathe, bodies of water which help nourish our bodies, as well as give us a fun place to play. I am also so grateful for all the plants and animals which keep our life cycle going.

    Nature Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

I definitely agree with Rachel Carson, as I feel nature has helped me grown and develop tremendously. I think just being out in the fresh air and having that connection between our ecosystem and ourselves help advance our minds and bodies.

Action Track: Justice for the Whole Community Support Businesses Owned by People of Color
A recent Keen Independent Research Foundation study found that Minority Businesses Enterprises (MBEs) are more likely to have difficulties in receiving loans or city contracts. In what ways can you work to address systemic racism like that demonstrated in this study?

I think the first way to address systematic racism like the one presented would be to use your own voice to speak out about it. You can also support more minority businesses regularly, by purchasing goods and services from them instead of large chains.

    Simplicity Less Screen Time
What did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?

I found replacing my screentime with other activities fairly easy. I am a huge advocate for going outside and being active, so it was fun to stop staring at a screen for a little bit each day. I mostly decided to spend my time doing physical activities such as working our, or practicing yoga, as well as some form of art.
